Job Description

As a Building Cleaning and Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and order within diverse work environments. This position requires hands-on leadership, coordinating a team of 5-10 janitors, caretakers, and building superintendents. Your responsibilities will extend to ensuring safety protocols and cleanliness benchmarks are consistently met across all sites.

• Supervise and effectively coordinate the daily activities of cleaning staff.
• Conduct regular inspections of various sites and facilities to uphold established safety and cleanliness standards.
• Provide assistance and guidance to cleaners in the execution of their duties when necessary.
• Facilitate smooth communication and coordination of work activities with other departments or clients.
• Ensure all cleaning and maintenance equipment is properly maintained and in good working order.

Requirements

• Completion of a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma program lasting 1 to 2 years, or possessing equivalent practical experience.
• A minimum of 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity within cleaning or maintenance.
• Proficiency in English for all communication requirements.
• Possession of a valid First Aid Certificate is required.
• Demonstrated personal attributes including client focus, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, flexibility, initiative, sound judgement, and reliability.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with a valid work permit).

Working Conditions & Benefits

• Salary: $29.00 hourly, based on a work week of 35 to 40 hours.
• Employment Type: Permanent, full-time position.
• Shift Availability: Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend, and Shift work may be required.
• Work Environment: This is an on-site role, requiring work in various settings such as office buildings, commercial facilities, hospitals/medical clinics, shopping centres, and sites involving swimming pool or pest control maintenance. The environment can be fast-paced, dusty, dirty, and may involve working at heights.
