A private household in Maple, Ontario, is actively seeking a dedicated full-time Home Child Care Provider to join their family. This permanent position, available as soon as possible, involves comprehensive childcare responsibilities and managing various household duties.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for children within the employer’s home. This role demands a proactive individual who can manage diverse tasks related to childcare and light household management, often assuming full responsibility in the parents’ absence.
- Assume full responsibility for the household when parents are absent.
- Perform light housekeeping and various cleaning duties.
- Shop for groceries and essential household supplies.
- Travel with the family on trips, assisting with child supervision and housekeeping.
- Wash, iron, and press clothing and household linens.
- Bathe, dress, and feed infants and children.
- Discipline children in accordance with parental guidelines.
- Instruct children on personal hygiene and social development.
- Maintain records of daily activities and health information pertaining to the children.
- Ensure a safe and healthy living environment within the home.
- Organize and lead activities such as games and outings for children.
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals, including cooking.
- Prepare infants and children for their rest periods.
- Supervise and provide care for children, including multi-aged groups.
- Transport children to and from school and scheduled appointments.
- Attend to the emotional well-being of children.
- Assist children with their homework.
Requirements
- Education: A secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
- Experience: Candidates must have 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in childcare.
- Language: Proficiency in English is essential.
- Specific Childcare Experience: Experience supervising and caring for multi-aged groups of children is necessary. Prior experience with children who have special needs or allergies is also beneficial.
- Personal Suitability: Attributes such as client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, flexibility, initiative, good judgement, strong organizational skills, reliability, effective time management, and patience are highly valued.
- Physical Capabilities: The role involves repetitive tasks, working under pressure, attention to detail, and the ability to handle weights up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
- Security and Safety: A Child Abuse Registry check, Criminal Record check, Drug test, Medical exam, and professional references are mandatory.
- Work Authorization: Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, or temporary residents with a valid work permit. Applications from individuals not authorized to work in Canada will not be considered.
Working Conditions & Benefits
- Compensation: $21.00 per hour, for 30 hours per week.
- Employment Type: This is a permanent, full-time position.
- Work Schedule: The role requires availability during mornings, days, and evenings, with overtime potentially required.
- Work Environment: Work is performed on-site at the employer’s home, which is a non-smoking and scent-free environment. Occasional work at various locations may be required.
- Travel: Willingness to travel with the family is a requirement; however, travel expenses and relocation costs are not covered by the employer.
- LMIA Status: A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) has been requested by the employer as a Canadian worker could not be found for this position. The application is currently under review by the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
