East Kootenay Cleaners is seeking a dedicated Building Cleaning and Maintenance Supervisor to join their team in Cranbrook, British Columbia. This full-time, permanent position involves overseeing cleaning operations across various facilities and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and maintenance. Job Description

As a Building Cleaning and Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating a team of cleaning professionals. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all sites meet established safety and cleanliness standards. This role requires active involvement in day-to-day operations, including assisting cleaners and maintaining equipment, while also coordinating activities with other departments. You will supervise a team of 5 to 10 individuals, including janitors, caretakers, and building superintendents.

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of cleaning staff.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.
• Provide direct assistance to cleaners as needed to complete tasks.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless work coordination.
• Perform regular maintenance checks and upkeep on cleaning equipment.

Requirements

• Completion of a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma program of 1 to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year but less than 2 years of experience in a similar supervisory role.
• Proficiency in English, both oral and written, is required.
• Possession of a valid First Aid Certificate.
• Ability to work in various environments including at heights, dusty, and dirty conditions.
• Must own steel-toed safety boots and other necessary tools/equipment.
• Demonstrated personal suitability including client focus, dependability, excellent communication skills (oral and written), flexibility, initiative, judgment, and reliability.

Working Conditions

• Salary: $29.00 hourly, based on a 35 to 40-hour work week.
• Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time.
• Work Schedule: Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend, and Shift work.
• Work Environment: Fast-paced, physically demanding, requiring manual dexterity, repetitive tasks, bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads. Work is performed on-site at various locations including office buildings, commercial facilities, hospitals, shopping centres, and potentially swimming pool or pest control service companies.
