Job Description

As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods and materials across various routes, including those requiring mountain driving expertise. The role demands a high degree of professionalism in customer interactions and meticulous attention to vehicle and cargo safety, ensuring all operational standards are met.

• Demonstrate expertise in mountain driving conditions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor in all customer service interactions.
• Perform loading and unloading of goods.
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks for material transport.
• Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle condition, including tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other essential equipment.
• Execute brake adjustments as needed.
• Perform emergency roadside repairs.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on vehicles.
• Accurately record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
• Ensure the proper tarping and overall safety and security of cargo.

Requirements

Candidates interested in this opportunity should meet the following qualifications:

• Education: Completion of a secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
• Experience: No prior experience is required, as the employer will provide comprehensive training.
• Licences & Endorsements: Possess an Air Brakes Endorsement, a Class 1/1F/A Licence (suitable for semi-trailer trucks), or a Class 1 or A Driver’s License.
• Documentation Skills: Proficiency with driver logbooks and completing detailed inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip).
• Communication & Navigation: Experience operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment.
• Security & Safety: Successful completion of a criminal record check, driving record check (abstract), and a drug test.
• Transportation & Travel: Must hold a valid driver’s licence and be willing to travel cross-border, for extended periods, and overnight.
• Personal Attributes: Demonstrate strong reliability and a team-player attitude.
• Work Authorization: Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, or temporary residents with a valid work permit. The employer will not respond to applications from individuals not authorized to work in Canada.

Working Conditions

This permanent, full-time position offers a competitive wage of $26.50 per hour, based on a 40-hour work week. Work is strictly on-site at the physical location in Winnipeg, with no remote work options available. There are 10 vacancies available, with an anticipated start date as soon as possible.
