Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive installation and repair of various floor coverings. This includes preparing surfaces, precise cutting and fitting of materials, and ensuring high-quality workmanship across different flooring types. This is a hands-on role requiring physical capability and attention to detail.
- Inspect, measure, and precisely mark surfaces designated for floor coverings.
- Accurately measure, cut, and secure underlayment and underpadding materials.
- Measure, cut, and expertly install carpeting on various floor surfaces.
- Measure, cut, and fit resilient floor coverings such as vinyl or linoleum.
- Prepare subfloors and install hardwood flooring materials.
- Examine existing floor coverings for damage and perform necessary repairs.
- Utilize specialized tools like knee kickers to ensure proper carpet stretching.
- Install specific resilient stair components, including features for visually impaired individuals.
- Verify that all installations meet standards for alignment, symmetry, dimensions, fit, and overall quality.
Requirements
- Completion of a College/CEGEP program or possess equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience of 7 months to less than 1 year in floor covering installation.
- Proficiency in English.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license, own transportation, and a personal vehicle are essential.
- Ability to obtain a criminal record check and driver’s validity license check.
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, crouching, and kneeling, with good hand-eye coordination.
- Capable of working effectively in a team environment and exhibiting efficient interpersonal skills.
- Specialization in installing vinyl or resilient tiles, vinyl or resilient sheets, hardwood strip flooring, and carpets/rugs.
- Applicants should be willing to relocate, though relocation costs are not covered by the employer.
