Education and Experience Requirements
To be considered for the position, you must have at least a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. While prior experience is an asset, it is not mandatory, making this a great opportunity for both experienced drivers and newcomers to the field.
Key Responsibilities for Truck Drivers
In this role, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods across local, national, and international routes. Below are some of the primary duties you’ll need to perform:
- Team Driving: You will often drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
- Permits and Documentation: Obtain special permits and other necessary documents required for transporting cargo, especially on international routes.
- Vehicle Operation: Operate straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials efficiently.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Oversee the vehicle’s condition and inspect critical systems such as tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
- Safety Checks: Perform regular brake adjustments, emergency roadside repairs, and pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
- Communication: Relay information to the central dispatch, ensuring accurate records of cargo details, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
- Cargo Security: Tarping and ensuring the safety and security of all transported cargo.
Work Conditions and Physical Demands
As a truck driver, you must be prepared for the following conditions:
