Job Responsibilities
As a truck driver for KPS Trucklines, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks essential to the smooth operation of our logistics services. Your duties will include:
- Route Planning & Adjustments: Efficiently plan or modify routes based on traffic, weather, and other changing conditions. Utilize GPS or other navigation tools to optimize routes, reduce fuel consumption, and minimize carbon emissions.
- Loading & Unloading: Safely load and unload goods, ensuring that all cargo is secure and meets safety standards.
- Vehicle Operation: Drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials to various destinations.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Regularly inspect and oversee the condition of the vehicle, including tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage units. Perform necessary brake adjustments and conduct preventive maintenance.
- Emergency Repairs: Be prepared to perform emergency roadside repairs when needed to ensure minimal downtime.
- Safety & Compliance: Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle meets all safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: A secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
- Experience: Candidates should have 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in truck driving.
- Language: Proficiency in English is necessary to effectively communicate and follow instructions.
Work Environment
This role requires work to be completed on-site at the physical location in Hamilton, ON. Please note that there is no option for remote work in this position.
